Our annual celebration will be held at the National Archives in Morrow and will concentrate on "The African American Family."
Historical Jonesboro strives to perpetuate the legacy and history of the contributions made by African Americans to our county, our state, and our country.
The program is FREE to the public. However, donations are greatly appreciated and will be used for next year's program.
There will be music, art work, old photographs, an artifacts display, and a sampling of foods introduced into America by early Africans.
In addition, there will a presentation of histories by some of the first Clayton County African American families and taped interviews will be
shown from the last seven years of Historical Jonesboro recordings of other Clayton County African American seniors.
There will also be an opportunity to tape personal family histories of
African American Clayton County Senior Citizens again this year.

Victorian Mourning Tours

During the entire Month of August, 2011
Monday - Saturday, 10AM - 4PM, last tour at 3PM.
Regular tour prices.
Come learn the mourning customs, superstitions, and rituals of the 1800s.
The house will be draped in black and displayed as it would have been in 1839 after a death in the family.
A costumed docent will guide you through the house.
